Kuitpo Forest

Have you ever met a fairy?

Or a princess lost in the woods?

What about a white rabbit disappearing down a hole or a tiny house covered in moss?

In all its mystical-like beauty, Kuitpo Forest seems like just the place to go if seeking something magical!

We went for a little walk through the other day scouting potential photo locations for my sisters wedding in a few weeks and we were stunned by it's beauty! The forest itself is situated in the South Mount Lofty Ranges, about a 45 minute drive away from Adelaide City, but it is such a beautiful little place where I imagine any 'whimsical woodlands' bride would just swoon at! Among the beautiful trees there is a small section of private land that has become very popular for wedding ceremonies and photos! We met up with the grand daughter of the owner and she gave us a small tour around the square, all the while chatting about her family and telling us the story of how her grandfather came to own the land. I've seen many a reference to 'that tree' in Kuitpo Forest, but to actually stand in front of it was to stand in wonder! The sun was beaming straight down onto this beautiful skeleton of a tree through a hole in the forest canopy and I can see why so many brides simply must have their ceremony there! There is something magical about the sea of pine cones strewn around, the crunch of pine needles under your feet, Alice in Wonderland type mushrooms popping out of the ground like from some fantasy land and a halo of haze shining through the trees onto a beautifully forgotten tree!

While the area is very beautiful, there is no access to amenities or even power out there, it's simply getting back to the beauty of nature, take it or leave it!

xoxox Bonnie!
