If you haven't read my earlier posts about WedPin, it is a monthly competition run by the Australian Academy of Wedding and Event Planning that requires students and past students to think about a specific wedding concept and present a pinterest boards that reflects your interpretation of the theme. So, the May AAWEP WedPin concept this month was 'Warrior Princess!' and guess what, I WON! My board 'Real Warriors Wear Pink' was selected by Christine over at AAWEP as this months winner! I feel so happy and grateful for the opportunity to practise developing skills that I will need one day if I chose to work in the event planning industry!
Check out the announcement that I won here on the academy blog!
I originally started to devise an African Warrior Princess concept, but then stopped to think about what a true warrior and fighter is in this modern day, and a conversation I had with my mum about her friend who has breast cancer came to the front of my mind.
So, inspired by people's fight against cancer, the pink breast cancer ribbon, and the Non for Profit organisation Wish Upon A Wedding in America I started pinning for a wedding that not only celebrates a couples love, but also raises awareness and donations for individuals battling cancer, particularly breast cancer. This is a wedding that I would really love to make a reality one day! We looked at making donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation for each of our guests in lieu of our wedding Bomboniere, but we didn't end up doing it and it is really the only thing that I would change about our wedding day! Imagine if every couple in Australia donated just 10 cents for each guest in lieu of bomboniere to an Australian non for profit organisation! The result would be phenomenal!

Below I have developed an inspiration board from my favourite images pinned to my board, together I think create the perfect feel of how this wedding would come together! Oh and I just LOVE that wedding dress, do you think this kind of dress would be suitable to wear as an every day item? Hmm!
