So Pantone released their Top 10 Shades of Autumn 2015 (or Fall as they call it in America!) And the top 10 shades of the 2015 Autumn season are...
My favourite's are Cashmere Rose, Biscay Bay and Reflecting Pond, oh and Cadmium Orange.... ok, I like them all!
Why and how did Pantone Inc decide on them, check out what they said below....
Desert Sage, a cool and soothing greenish-gray that serves as the ideal neutral across the Fall 2015 palette. Timeless and unobtrusive, yet powerful enough to make a statement on its own, Desert Sage speaks to the feeling of naturally inspired colors that remind us of things that are real and not invented. Reminiscent of the sky on a gray, overcast day, Stormy Weather is dependable, cool and above all, constant. Implying quality and luxury, it is a powerful blue-gray that is strong, protective and enduring. Just as the sun comes out after stormy weather to bring us cheer and a glimmer of hope, Oak Buff is a mellow, comforting and warming shade that brings good feelings. One of nature’s many illustrious shades, the golden-yellow Oak Buff acts to nurture and comfort.
Dried Herb is elevated this season to be sophisticated and chic. Closely related to nature, Dried Herb is an organic shade redolent of nature’s earthy fragrances.
Interesting on its own and a wonderful contrast to other hues,Marsala is a winey red-brown that adds finesse and savoir faire to the palette. Rich and robust, Marsala incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
A lush and elegant teal, Biscay Bay splashes up against more heated tones with its cool touch, combining the serene qualities of blue with the invigorating aspects of green. This cool and confident tone inspires thoughts of soothing tropical waters, transporting us to a place that is pleasant and inviting.
A nod to the ‘60s and ‘70s, Cadmium Orange evokes a sentiment of optimism, fun and fantasy. Both playful and sophisticated in its appeal, Cadmium Orange is a warm, welcoming and subtly dramatic hue that is striking enough to stand on its own or act as a bold contrast.
A play on the ‘60s with a twist of today, luxurious Cashmere Rose is a tactile and soft pink hue that renders exactly what it promises. Cultivated in its richness, Cashmere Rose displays a gently persuasive and composed pink that is more upscale than downtown.
Thoughtful, contemplative and composed, Reflecting Pond is a cooling blue that adds dimension and intrigue to the Top 10. Conveying a message of credibility, Reflecting Pond is a serious shade that speaks to the need for stability and security.
Indicative of our affection for color,Amethyst Orchid is the jewel in the crown of the Fall 2015 palette. Intriguing, vibrant and somewhat sensual, this enigmatic shade is an extraordinary hue that is unique, bold, creative and exciting.

So, what better opportunity, being it is Autumn (in Australia!) than to develop a concept and inspiration board using a selection of this seasons colours! The colours I chose to work with were Marsala (how can you not pick the colour of the year, Oak Buff and Dried Herb. The three colours together remind me of an overgrown, Autumn garden caught between summer and winter, some leave crunchy on the ground, some resisting the change of season and still clinging to the branches, slowly fading from green to brown! Check out my wedding concept and inspiration board, as well as my pinterest board over on my pinterest link, and see if you are inspired by this seasons colours, and could possibly be in the market for a Shades of Autumn wedding!
Shades of Autumn Wedding Concept; by Bonnie O'Brien
Immerse yourselves and your guests in the magic and romance of the most beautiful season of the year, autumn. Inspired by the colours and tastes of autumn found at the local farmers market, guests embrace that cosy feeling as if pulling on their first snuggly scarf of the year, fighting away the autumn chill.
Anticipation builds as guests travel the idyllic journey through the Adelaide hills, past quaint little towns, among rolling hills and vine yards, vines slowly fading from green to yellow. Only a stone throw away from the picturesque town of Hahndorf, guests arrive at The Lane Vineyard, dazzled by the trees and vines, leaves everywhere caught between the freshness of summer and the fading of autumn. Among the vines, nestled in tight, are wooden, American chairs, strewn with comfy cushions in marsala, dried herb and oak buff, draped with marsala coloured blankets, perfectly reflecting the colours of the surrounding vines. An aisle, with nothing but crispy leaves left to crunch beneath the bride’s feet, leads to an archway adorned with flowers and dense foliage matching the warming autumn palate. A lone musician playing an acoustic guitar and harmonica sets the scene, waiting for the bride, in her golden gown, to lock eyes with the love of her life.
An enchanted forest of trees, with a canopy caught in the midst of autumn gold, winds the way into the venue. Strewn among the leaves are guests own golden leaves, embossed with their name and table number. The journey through the forest brings guests to a beautifully warm room with deep wooden floor boards, lit softly with hanging candles and bulbs, emitting a romantic, golden glow, tables accented with tones of marsala, dried herb and oak buff and glass doors to a balcony, revealing an endless ocean of autumn vines. An empty wall suddenly appears with a seamless projection of a tranquil autumn setting, subtly changing across the evening, transporting guests from one beautiful place to the next without ever leaving the room.
Inspired by the brides love of the local farmers market, each table is adorned with local fresh, autumn fruits, and flowers that cascade from tall golden centrepieces towards a gold charger plate and matching cutlery, while simple, white table linen is soft to the touch beneath it all. Guests feast on a range of local produce purchased from the farmers markets; reflecting the richness of the autumn colour palate in roasted autumn vegetable salads, succulent rump steaks and plum tarts.
Throughout the evening, guests feel warmed by the richness of the autumn palate that wraps them up in the beauty and simplicity of a single autumn leaf, changing and becoming even more beautiful before it drifts to the ground, preparing for the winter ahead.
With legs sore from dancing, guests relax on velvet, oak buff couches on the balcony, sipping wine from gold rimmed glasses and watching as the dazzling colours of the sunset spills across the vines, travels right into the venue and reflects from every golden plate, making the whole venue; the whole evening, feel like one endless autumn sunset.
