Each month the Australian Academy of Wedding and Event Planning run a little competition called 'Wedpin!' The wedpin is an opportunity for students like me, past students who run their own businesses and anyone else who is interested, to practise interpreting and developing to a specific wedding concept! Using the ever popular pinterest, entrants are required to research the given concept and then present a board which best represents the concept in the way you choose it to. The idea of developing this pinterest board is to show how it is possible to show clients that you understand their ideas and the feel they want for their wedding! The concept for March was 'Urban Sophistication.'
What does Urban Sophistication mean to you? If you were planning on having a wedding those oozed Urban Sophistication, what do you imagine? When I think of urban, especially here in London, I think of beautiful classic homes with towering, old brick walls, stained with artwork that accentuates the exterior, rather than spoiling it. Everywhere you look there is graffiti, some appalling, but most which look like the only canvas ever intended for its existence is the faded, forgotten walls. I was initially inspired by a famous graffiti artist over here in London named Banksey, but drifted away from his artworks, because they are not only beautiful, but they are mostly political and social statements that didn’t really encompass the emotion to evoke. Instead I chose a beautiful picture of a bride and groom with a statement piece of graffiti in the background. The artist is unknown, but the colours spring from the wall, while still drawing attention to the couple. I based my décor selection on the artwork colours, mint and pastel pink, then added a sprinkle of gold for that extra touch of sophistication!
Take a little moment to read the poem / quote I have used in my description and on the inspiration board below. I stumbled across this quote over the period of these past two weeks, tweaked it a little to suit my needs, and thought it was too good to not share. I just love teh quote because when I read it I feel myself captured in the moment when these two strangers fell in love! I think the quote alone tells a story, but the images I selected show what the wedding might look like and feel like should you be lucky enough to get an invite! :-P I hope to create moments that make people feel this way someday!
