When I grow up I want to be...

Apart from when I was 10 years old and dressing up in a clown suit, complete with juggling balls and face paint, I never really knew how to answer 'that' question... 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' Well, that is not so true. I always had something. I want to be a clown, a nurse (honestly, what was I thinking!), a tour guide and tv presenter on Getaway,an author, a journalist, a social worker, an aid worker, a flight attendent, a hotel manager, a teacher... the list could go on forever. It is easy to say what you WANT to be, but it's not until you actually DO something that you find out if it is for you or not, and honestly who has time in a SINGLE life time to go to circus school and join cirque du soleil, study nursing, journalism, tourism management and social work, travel the world with Getaway, work for an exotic air line and spend time helping those in need in Tanzania, before enjoying moments with your friends, finding the love of your life, spending time with those you love and having your own family! A head full of dreams and a life that is too short.

I am slowly ticking dreams of the list, including marry the love of my life and travel the world, and have plans to visit Africa... oh and Getaway is still getting back to me ;-) but the question still remains... 'What do I want to be when I grow up?' I think the question should be rephrased to 'what do you want to do for a living?' because I am certain that 'when I am grown up' I will still be trying to figure out what it is I actually want to DO. All I know is that, regardless of whether I consider myself to ever be grown up, I simply want, in the words of John Lennon, to BE happy.

So here I go again, on another adventure to find out what I want to spend my life doing! I really love being a teacher, and have done so in both Australia and the UK, but it's time to try something NEW! I have enrolled in Australian Academy of Wedding and Event Planning, and in January I start my Diploma of Wedding Planning, Styling and Design, and I am so incredibly excited! The course can be completed over a two year period, but I plan to work hard and complete it as soon as possible, while doing TRT / supply work here in the UK. During the course I am hoping to do some work experience over here in the UK, with one non for profit organisation in particular in mind.

I have set up this little blog so that people back home, who I all miss so much (xoxoxox) can sort of follow along with what I am doing, if of course you are interested! I have no idea where this course is going to take me, if any where, but I need to be true to myself in deciding what it is I want to do with my life! So here I am, simply giving it a go!

Wish me luck!
